McCormick Tractors International is wholly owned by ARGO SpA, an independent industrial group based in San Martino in Rio, Reggio Emilia, Italy. It encompasses nine factories in Europe making tractors, harvest machinery, cultivations equipment, tractor cabs and loaders. It has more than 3000 employees and in 2005 had sales approaching € 1billion. The Group Companies include McCormick Tractors International Ltd, Landini SpA, Valpadana SpA, Laverda SpA, Fella-Werke GmbH & Co KG, Fort & Pegoraro SpA, and has industrial partnerships with Gallignani SpA.
Landini SpA: makes wheeled and tracklaying tractors in Italy, sold worldwide under the Landini name. The complete range of specialist tractors for groundscare, vineyard and orchard operations, and full-scale agricultural tractors, extends to 280hp. Transmissions, front axles and cabs are produced in the group’s own manufacturing facilities.
McCormick Tractors International Ltd: assembles agricultural tractors from 73hp to 280hp in Great Britain and sells them worldwide – along with selected specialist tractors from other ARGO group factories – under the McCormick name. All transmissions are produced by McCormick France. The business was created in January 2001.
Valpadana SpA: acquired in 1995, this specialist Italian manufacturer makes compact tractors for vineyard, orchard and general farming operations, including articulated steering models. They are sold under the Valpadana and McCormick names.
Laverda SpA: makes combine harvesters and balers in Italy for distribution under the Laverda (combines and balers) and Fella (balers) names.
Fella-Werke GmbH & Co KG: based in Germany, Fella-Werke produces a range of grass machinery, including disc and drum mowers, grass rakes and tedders, for professional farmers and contractors.
Fort & Pegoraro SpA: manufactures a range of grass mowers, tedders, rakes and other grass harvesting equipment for farmers and powered cultivators for horticultural and agricultural crops.
Industrial partnerships:
AGCO Corporation: has a development and manufacturing partnership with Laverda SpA for the production of combines sold through AGCO distribution networks under the Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Challenger names.
Gallignani SpA: has a collaboration agreement with Laverda SpA for the supply of balers sold under the Laverda name and (through Gallignani’s Sigma 4 subsidiary) tractor hydraulic loaders for Landini and McCormick tractors.
